Theory of Change
Every social programme rests on a belief that doing A will lead to change B, yet that belief is rarely written down and tested. On Sustainability 360° (Bền vững 360°), FTS CSRA experts show how to build a Theory of Change: its components, indicators at each link, eight quality-check criteria and how to apply it to projects in Vietnam.
Criteria used by FTS Impact Lab
In the Assess tool you can check your initiative against each criterion below (met, partly met, not met, not applicable).
- The problem, root causes and local context are clearly described
- Beneficiary groups and their needs are specific
- A measurable long-term change (impact) is defined
- Intermediate outcomes link activities to impact
- Activities and outputs are sufficient to produce outcomes
- Assumptions and external factors that could break the chain are stated
- Each level has indicators and data collection
- The theory is revisited as data comes in
Example indicators to track
- Output / outcome / impact indicators with baselines
- % assumptions tested
- Change in key outcome vs baseline
